Coming Soon: The Greenhouse

We have a rather steamy announcement to make. We are developing our very own dedicated greenhouse! This will allow us to feature even more indoor and outdoor plants for sale all year round. Our greenhouse will help give our tropical plants a place to thrive and protect against frost in winter.

As we strive to be Melbourne's best plant store, we are always looking to improve and expand our business, giving you more opportunities to buy our thriving garden plants. The greenhouse is purely for our commercial use and will provide our customers with even more options for indoor and outdoor plants for sale in the near future.

Frequently Asked Questions

What soil and fertiliser should I buy to produce the best plants?

Soils and fertilisers should be recommended on a garden-by-garden basis. There are different soils, potting mixes, and fertilisers for different kinds of pot plants. The type of material you use for roses will be organically different from what you use for vegetables and fruiting plants.

As a rule of thumb, premium garden soil will be required for fruit trees, tropical trees, flowers, ornamentals, hedging, screening, and shrubs. Lawn Mix can be used when planting native plants, ornamental grasses, and when laying turf. All-purpose slow release fertiliser can be used for all types of plants, except lawns and certain natives.

For accurate advice on the most suitable fertilisers for your garden, contact the team at All Green. If you're in the area and are looking to buy some new plants, visit our nursery.

What are the best nursery plants to buy in particular seasons?

This depends on your personal preference and what kind of garden you want to create. We will always recommend diversifying your garden plants. The greater the variety, the more vibrant your garden will look season by season.

If you are looking for some seasonal garden plants, here's some things to keep in mind:

  • Hardier native garden plants are more suited to the colder Victoria climate, and will survive throughout the cooler winter weather without a problem.
  • Many exotic and tropical plants will be able to last through the winter, but will draw upon considerable water resources in the summer.
  • Fruiting plants will have specific blooming times throughout the year, and these should be taken into account before you plant them.
  • Flowering plants like hibiscus will need extra protection and delicate pruning to be able to last through the winter frost.

If you’re looking to buy specific plants that will thrive in the current season, visit All Green's Hoppers Crossing nursery location. Our onsite horticulturists are on the floor ready to help you pick out the best varieties of plants. They'll also tell you how best to care for them.

I’ve got a small garden. What garden plants will suit this area?

Depending on the location, there are different plants for different areas. Indoor plants can go inside and under covered areas. Full sun to partial sun plants requires at least 4 hours of sunlight per day. Shade plants are perfect for areas where there is only morning sun.

  • Our ever-popular selection of succulents can add a small exotic flavour to patios, verandas, and balconies.
  • Climbing plants like star jasmine can add much needed greenery to the vertical areas of your home's exterior.
  • If you're looking for something practical for your garden and kitchen, edible plants look as good as they taste.
  • Ground coverings like blue star creeper are excellent for breaking up the geometry of concrete and pavers.
  • Colourful flowering plants are perfect for creating a contrast between the organic hues of your garden, and the neutral palette of your home.

I'm not sure which kind of plants to buy for my garden. How do I get started?

Having a blank canvas is the only good way to start on a piece of art! If you haven't got the foggiest idea of what kind of plants to buy for your garden, let the team at All Green give you a hand. We have thousands of plants, trees and shrubs for sale and the expertise to help you plan the perfect outdoor space for your budget and lifestyle.

There are so many different types of plants to choose from, each with their own unique look and feel. Here are some of our favourite categories:

  • Native plants. These plants are native to Victoria and Australia. Thanks to our climate, they are typically hardy and drought resistant. They also come in a range of earthy colours.
  • Exotic plants. These come from further afield, such as Asia, Africa, the Americas, or other tropical climates. They require a bit more care and attention, but will always look fantastic.
  • Ornamentals. These plants can be both native or exotic, and are largely grown for their visual, or ornamental appeal.

This is just the beginning. There are literally thousands of different breeds of plants to choose from. If you're after a particular look and feel in your garden, visit us at Hoppers Crossing. By telling us a bit about your garden, its size, position, orientation, and level of sun, we can work with you to develop a plan to create your dream garden.
